First Transit announced it will begin managing and operating the campus transportation system at the University of Connecticut (UConn). The service provider will be responsible for the daily operations and management of 35 employees and 31 buses.
“First Transit is proud to be part of the Huskies community and is looking forward to providing an exceptional passenger experience to the students and staff," says Scott Conroy, First Transit area VP.
First Transit will operate UConn’s 10 routes serving all parking lots and official UConn housing. The company’s operations will be in place before students arrive for the fall 2017 semester.
First Transit’s management team at UConn are both graduates of the university and began their transit careers as campus bus drivers. Greg Tower is the GM, and Ryan Visci is the assistant GM.
