Veolia wins Texas St. U. shuttle contract
The service, the Bobcat Tram, makes nearly 3.5 million passenger trips annually and is funded predominantly from student bus fees.
Veolia’s Transit Division will operate campus shuttle service for Texas State University (TXST), after being awarded the contract in a competitive bid process.
The service, the Bobcat Tram (BT), makes nearly 3.5 million passenger trips annually and is funded predominantly from student bus fees.
The contract duration is seven years with one three-year option. Under the terms of the contract Veolia will provide 43 ElDorado 40-foot buses and will be responsible for all operations and maintenance, including the university’s two existing buses.
The company will also provide a bus and maintenance facility. The two-acre facility will feature a 5,000 square foot office and maintenance building, wash bay, fueling station and space for parking. Construction is expected to be completed in late spring 2014.
During the fall and spring semesters Veolia will operate services on residential, commuter and campus routes as well as late evening service via the Night Bus.
Veolia’s contract takes affect mid-June 2013 with full service start in August 2014.
