MONTPELIER, Vt. — Work on installing new rails in the western Vermont rail corridor is set to begin soon as part of the long-term goal of restoring passenger rail service between Rutland and Burlington, the Burlington Free Press reported.
Once the work is completed along two separate stretches next year, it will leave an 11-mile gap that must be filled to complete the 75-mile track upgrade between the two cities. Officials hope to learn next month if a federal grant for that project will be approved. For the full story, click here.
