Together, departments will award up to $75 million in funding — $35 million in TIGER II Planning Grants and $40 million in Sustainable Community Challenge Grants — for localized planning activities that ultimately lead to projects that integrate transportation, housing and economic development.

New Starts/Small Starts Shift to Focus on Livability

The changes may substantially impact what sort of projects will be selected in the program going forward, with more of a focus on sustainable, economically beneficial projects. The addition of programs, such as funding for urban circulators, may also play a major role in how New Starts/Small Starts decisions will be made in the future.

Nova Scotia announces green funding availability

To qualify for a grant, matching funding of at least 50 percent of the total project value is required and projects must be completed by September 2009.
