The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) announced that the Track Replacement Project on the Red Line south of Medical Center Station has been completed.

MARTA announced in early February that it was investing approximately $225 million in State of Good Repair work on its heavy rail lines. The goal of the project was to enhance the safety of the rail system, reduce train delays, and improve the customer experience.

MARTA’s Track Replacement Project replaces heavy rail between Buckhead and Medical Center stations.

The work on the Red Line included a rail crossover (Northland) that touched both main line tracks and prevented single-tracking operations.

During the project, MARTA provided free bus shuttles and a $10 Uber or Lyft voucher through MARTAConnect for customers to travel between the affected rail stations. During the five-day project, approximately 22,000 customers used the shuttles and MARTAConnect provided 919 rides at a total cost of $9,926.20.
