Trinity Metro TEXRail in Fort Worth, Texas, set a new monthly ridership record with 129,115 rides in December 2025, a 25% increase over December 2024. According to a release, the growth can be attributed to various factors, including “enthusiastic travelers who enjoy the convenience of rail travel to their favorite destinations.”

Since beginning operations in January 2019, TEXRail has provided a public transportation option between Fort Worth and DFW Airport’s Terminal B with multiple stations along the route in Fort Worth, North Richland Hills, and Grapevine. Christmas activities in Grapevine and holiday travels to the airport also contributed to record ridership.

“This season was incredible! Trains arrived filled with families and couples using the convenience of TEXRail,” said Paul W. McCallum, executive director of the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We’re thrilled to see more people experiencing TEXRail and seeing just how easy it is to safely arrive at Historic Main Street without the drive, making the ride part of the fun.”

"During the airport's busiest travel periods, public transportation plays an important role in improving the customer experience by reducing congestion on the roads and at the terminal curbs,” said Ken Buchanan, executive vice president and chief revenue officer for DFW Airport. “By encouraging the use of public transit, we help customers move through the airport more smoothly while easing pressure on roadways and airport facilities. It's a win-win-win for the traveler, the airport, and the region.”

In addition to the December record, ridership increased for the last quarter and the full calendar year. When comparing the passengers carried in October, November, and December to the previous year, total ridership was almost 14% higher. Ridership for calendar year 2025 was up 12% over 2024.
