Affiliated Computer Services Inc. (ACS) announced a $10.4 million contract with the City of Brampton to enable the transit authority to improve the effectiveness of its bus services, as well as its future AcceleRide Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) services that are scheduled to be operational in 2010.

ACS will supply Brampton Transit with an integrated suite of real-time analytical tools that will assist in overall operations management of its 250-vehicle fixed route fleet and nine supervisory vehicles. Brampton Transit will utilize ACS’ latest computer aided dispatch and automatic vehicle location  system called OrbCAD XP.

AcceleRide, is an initiative of the City of Brampton, a suburb of Toronto, Ontario, and Brampton Transit to introduce enhanced BRT services on the city’s key north-south and east-west arterial corridors. AcceleRide is intended to improve the reliability and quality of transit service and provide better connectivity within and beyond Brampton’s boundaries.
