AECOM Technology Corp., a provider of professional technical and management support services for government and commercial clients around the world, will provide tier-two environmental services and preliminary engineering to the California High Speed Rail Authority for the Altamont Corridor and Caltrain Corridor projects.

The two high-speed train contracts are worth more than $70 million.

AECOM is leading the $56-million Altamont Corridor contract, an 80-mile portion of the high-speed rail system that will connect the Central Valley to the San Francisco Bay Area via the Altamont Pass.

Additionally, AECOM, working in partnership with HNTB, is expected to earn approximately $16 million from the Caltrain Corridor, a 50-mile portion of the high-speed rail system that will connect San Jose to San Francisco.

AECOM’s history with California’s pursuit of a high-speed train system began in 2000 with programmatic work, including alternatives analysis, conceptual engineering and developing tier-one environmental studies, for more than 400 miles of the proposed system between Sacramento and Los Angeles.
