Ansaldo STS wins LIRR signaling contract
The upgrade will increase the safety and reliability of the line and support the LIRR’s planned PTC system.
Ansaldo STS awarded a contract with Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) to provide signaling along a 45-mile segment of line between Speonk and Montauk, N.Y.
The scope of the contract for Ansaldo STS is to design and furnish a new vital microprocessor based interlocking control system as part of the LIRR project to improve the signaling on this portion of line from dark territory to signaled territory.
The upgrade will increase the safety and reliability of the line and support the LIRR’s planned Positive Train Control (PTC) system.
Ansaldo STS will supply technology for the Automatic Speed Control (ASC) signalization, including new interlocking at Hampton Bay and Southampton, new control points at Amagansett and Montauk, and 38 grade crossing huts.
