The American Bus Association (ABA) attended an organizational meeting last week with American Trucking Associations (ATA) to discuss implementation of the Highway Watch Program (HWW).

The HWW is a cooperative program with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) that provides anti-terrorist training, communication, analysis and sector coordination resources to all private and public operators throughout the highway sector.

According to ABA officials, discussions at the meeting addressed the idea of forming a coalition of industry partners, including the motorcoach and trucking industries, that will be trained to recognize threats and provide information to protect the nation’s transporters.

In March, the TSA agreed to provide ATA with $19.3 million to expand the HWW with training and education for highway professionals.
