Allied Specialty Vehicles (ASV) announced John Walsh as its new VP, sales, for ASV Bus. In his new role, Walsh will lead all sales for ASV commercial, transit and school bus companies and report directly to Kent Tyler, president of ASV Bus & Mobility Group.
“I’m thrilled to have John Walsh on board to lead our bus sales team. John has more than 20 years of sales management experience in the bus industry under his belt and knows how to work effectively with dealers and customers,” Tyler said. “He is knowledgeable about our products, understands our sales goals, and will put in a tireless effort to elevate our brands and grow our business.”

Walsh arrives from Mobility Ventures LLC, where he has been VP, sales and marketing, since 2013. Prior to this, he was VP, sales and marketing at ARBOC Specialty Vehicles. Walsh has also held positions of increasing responsibility at National Bus Sales & Leasing Inc.
“ASV Bus has a diverse and very impressive product portfolio with a strong focus on quality and innovation,” said Walsh. “I am eager to begin working with Kent and the bus sales teams to focus on strengthening our relationships with strategic dealer partners and key customers accounts. We have a tremendous opportunity to quickly increase our footprint in the marketplace, and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
ASV Bus is made up of Champion Bus, Collins Bus, ElDorado National-California, ElDorado National-Kansas, Federal Coach, Goshen Coach and Krystal. Together the companies manufacture light- and medium-duty commercial buses for the public transit, paratransit, airport, parking, hotel/resort, group tour, assisted living, church and university transportation markets.
The region’s fixed-route system finished out the year with a total of 373.5 million rides. Adding 12.3 million rides over 2024 represents an increase that is equal to the annual transit ridership of Kansas City.
The service is a flexible, reservation-based transit service designed to close the first- and last-mile gaps and connect riders to employment for just $5 per day.
The upgraded system, which went live earlier this month, supports METRO’s METRONow vision to enhance the customer experience, improve service reliability, and strengthen long-term regional mobility.
The agreement provides competitive wages and reflects strong labor-management collaboration, positive working relationships, and a shared commitment to building a world-class transit system for the community, said RTA CEO Lona Edwards Hankins.
The priorities are outlined in the 2026 Board and CEO Initiatives and Action Plan, which serves as a roadmap to guide the agency’s work throughout the year and ensure continued progress and accountability on voter-approved transportation investments and essential mobility services.
