SAN FRANCISCO — The Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) fired station agent Jim Stanek for giving a needy teenager $300 in leftover train passes with unused balances, the AP reported.
Stanek told the San Franciso Chronicle that he thought the tickets were going to be discarded. Agency officials say the leftover balances go toward BART’s general fund. The union that represents Stanek is appealing the decision. For the full story, click here.
