BISC reminds operators to include safety tools
FMCSA regulations require that operators communicate instructions on what to do in emergency situations to bus riders prior to any coach departure.
With the busy spring tour and travel season approaching, the Bus Industry Safety Council (BISC) is reminding all operators to make sure they have the tools necessary to meet the guidelines for communicating Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) pre-trip safety information for motorcoach passengers.
FMCSA regulations require that operators communicate instructions on what to do in emergency situations to bus riders prior to any coach departure. To assist operators in meeting this requirement, BISC and the American Bus Association (ABA) are offering a 3-1/2 minute video available on DVD or in VHS formats; an audio CD; and seatback cards in English and Spanish.
The cards, which are on high quality stock and include high-resolution color photos, offer information on the reverse detailing how motorcoaches are the most environmentally sound way to travel and explain Hours of Service rules.
“Complying with FMCSA safety guidelines is critical for your customers and your company,” said BISC Executive Director Norm Littler, who also serves as ABA VP of Regulatory & Industry Affairs. “It’s necessary, and it’s the right thing to do.”
