Valley Regional Transit (VRT), the bus service for Boise, Idaho is offering free bus passes for students who attend Boise State University.

The university worked out a deal with VRT to allow for students to be able to take advantage of this service every year. It is one way that Boise State hopes to alleviate some of the parking issues on campus.

Though the program is not a new one, VRT is working to increase ridership among students and increase awareness of the program. As there are no other forms of mass transit in the Boise area, this is a deal for students who do not wish to purchase a parking permit on campus, or who do not own a vehicle.

To get a VRT sticker to ride the bus, students must go to the parking office on campus and present a valid student ID. This will allow for students to ride the bus all year.

More and more students are looking to alternative venues to travel to and from campus. VRT and Boise State University have seen an increase in time of the number of student passes given out, and the numbers are continuing to grow.
