BusCon, the medium- and light-duty bus show sponsored by METRO Magazine and Bobit Business Media, will celebrate its 10th anniversary Nov. 8 to 10, 2005, in Las Vegas. In late September, BusCon held its 10th meeting at the Navy Pier in Chicago, where thousands of attendees had the opportunity to inspect a slew of buses and ancillary equipment and services, including two innovative low-floor medium-duty bus chassis, on the trade show floor. Attendees also were provided with educational sessions that covered a range of topics, including the impact of terrorist threat on public transportation, bus spec'ing procedures and risk management strategies. In addition, Lyle Cummins, the son of Cummins Inc. founder Clessie Cummins, provided an entertaining and insightful history of his father's promotion of the diesel engine in North America.
