With the refusal of Butler County commissioners to give $250,000 to the Bulter County (Ohio) Regional Transit Authority (RTA), the system may have to shut down. Commissioner Mike Fox said the county does not have the money and that the RTA should ask other communities using the system to help fund it, reported a local news channel. The transit authority board plans to decide today whether to begin shutting down the system. The financial problems come from a twice-defeated proposal to increase the county sales tax. The RTA said it needs another $2.8 million to run its fixed routes and to restore its Dial-A-Ride program. Otherwise, fixed-route service will end January 1 and the entire system will shut down in July.
