CHICAGO — Former U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald commented that the region’s transit agencies need to train staff on how to remove politics from hiring, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Fitzgerald voiced his concern during a meeting of a transit task force formed in response to allegations by former Metra CEO Alex Clifford that two Metra board members conspired to get rid of him because he would not “play ball” on patronage requests. Some of the requests may have originated with Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago), according to the paper. For the full story, click here.
