The incident occurred this past spring at Monticello in Charlottesville as the Spirit Coach driver was showing Moody the inside of his coach. Without warning, the Spirit driver suddenly collapsed and claimed he could not move his legs. With the assistance of another driver, Moody stabilized the stricken driver and remained with him until a medical team from the University of Virginia Hospital arrived and administered drugs to counteract what appeared to be symptoms of a stroke.
Lancer Insurance Company, which insures both Virginia Coach and Spirit Coach, recently acknowledged Moody’s life-saving actions by presenting him with a plaque and cash reward at Virginia Coach’s headquarters.
