A consortium of companies operating under the title Cascadia Monorail Co. submitted a proposal for designing, building and operating a 14-mile monorail in Seattle.
According to the public agency evaluating the mass-transit system — the Seattle Monorail Project — Cascadia Monorail is the only company expected to vie for the $1.75 billion project after a competing consortium, Team Monorail, withdrew from the project earlier this month.
Cascadia Monorail consists of several engineering, manufacturing, design and construction firms, including Hitachi Ltd., Mitsui USA, Howard S. Wright Construction Co., Hoffman Construction Co. and RCI Construction Group.
The Seattle Monorail Project will review the proposal and in September make a recommendation to its board.
