DURHAM, N.C. — Despite uncertainty about continued support for public transportation projects from a federal level, GoTriangle Durham-Orange light rail project officials remain optimistic that the project will receive the money it needs, The Daily Tar Heel reports.

Half of the Durham-Orange light rail’s cost — totaling over a billion dollars — is expected to come from the federal government, with officials telling The Daily Tar Heel that they were very encouraged that the Federal Transit Administration has expressed continued interest in the project.

The Durham-Orange line was approved last summer to advance to the engineering or final design phase, and significant environmental and planning work had already been done to map the line and the location of stations. For the full story, click here.
