DETROIT — The Detroit News reported that the prospect of the state’s new Regional Transit Authority getting funded is in question, which may stymy transportation goals for the region.
Transit officials told the paper they feel certain there’s legislative support for the authority to receive $1.7 million in a supplemental appropriations bill. However, if the funding falls through, the authority’s only option may be to siphon money from local transit providers such as the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation and Detroit Department of Transportation.
A spokesman for the state budget director told The Detroit News that no decision has been made to put the funding request in the bill. For the full story, click here.
