DETROIT — After a decade of stops and starts, M-1 Rail executives and state and local officials gathered to celebrate the launch of Detroit’s 3.3-mile streetcar system along Woodward Avenue, Crain’s reports.
The $142 million streetcar system championed by Penske is expected to host 5,000 to 8,000 riders per day. Many have attributed a recent boom in investment along Woodward to its installation — more than $7 billion has been poured into or planned for 211 development projects along the avenue since 2013, according to a QLine report.
