AMSTERDAM — The AP reported that Royal Beuk BV, a Dutch luxury bus company, is outfitting 20 vehicles with a system that is designed to detect if a driver is becoming drowsy.
The technology, created by Seeing Machines, uses infrared light and a camera to track eye movements to see if a driver's gaze is distracted from the road for too long, or if he or she is blinking progressively more slowly. If the system detects a problem, it will sound an alarm for the driver.
