Cincinnati-based First Transit Inc. has re-signed a contract with New York City Transit (NYCT) to operate the agency’s paratransit command center for at least five more years.
Duties performed by First Transit, which has contracted with NYCT since 1997, include reservations, dispatch and scheduling for all paratransit services.
NYCT’s paratransit command center has a staff of approximately 265 employees. They operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and take an average of more than 3 million calls per year.
First Transit, which provides public transit contracting and management services, also runs call centers for the Regional Transit District in Denver, the Illinois Department of Public Aid, the Connecticut Department of Social Services and Arlington County, Va.
