First Transit wins renewals in N.C., Conn.
Additionally, the company announced that CTTransit, which it manages operations for, was recently awarded the 2010 Certificate of Merit for Safety by APTA.
The City of Durham, N.C., and Connecticut's Greater Hartford Transit District elected to renew their existing contracts with First Transit Inc.
In Durham, which extended its contract for five years, First Transit will provide complete operations and transit management services as well as comprehensive preventive maintenance and inspection programs to meet customer transportation and budgetary needs.
In Hartford, First Transit's more than $7.3 million contract has been extended three years and includes the management of 115 vehicles for paratransit services.
First Transit has provided service to the residents of Hartford since 2005 and transports more than 337,000 passengers annually. The new contract will take affect July 1.
Additionally, First Transit announced that Connecticut Transit (CTTransit) was recently awarded the 2010 Certificate of Merit for Safety by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). A Certificate of Merit is given by the APTA to organizations in recognition of exceptional achievement in safety or security. First Transit manages the every day operations for CTTransit.
