Florida’s Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) launched The Snapper — an on-demand microtransit service transforming how residents travel across Pinellas County, which Transdev is supporting.

The Snapper follows the success of The Grouper, PSTA’s shuttle service connecting St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) to vacation rentals, hotels, and popular destinations around Clearwater Beach. Together, these services represent PSTA’s commitment to meeting local mobility needs with creative, community-focused solutions.

After a successful pilot in Safety Harbor in late 2023, The Snapper expanded to Clearwater in October 2025. This service connects riders within designated zones to major transit hubs, making it easier to access PSTA’s broader network.

PSTA’s The Snapper

What sets The Snapper apart is its seamless implementation across existing operations, said PSTA officials. By repurposing existing vehicles, integrating advanced scheduling technology, and retraining operators, Transdev delivered a smooth transition without disrupting other services.

The program operates at a fraction of the cost of traditional routes while providing a better experience for riders.

Community feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Riders appreciate the reliability, the convenience of connecting to PSTA buses, and the friendly drivers who make every trip feel personal, PSTA officials said.

For many, The Snapper has become an essential part of their daily routine, helping them reach work, school, and other destinations with ease.

“This service is about innovation and community,” said Thomas Tibbetts, GM of the Pinellas County team at Transdev. “We’ve created a solution that meets people where they are and keeps them connected to the places they need to go.”
