French railway orders 49 MF2000 trainsets
Purchase made from Alstom, Bombardier and Areva TA consortium.
This is the second phase of an umbrella order for 161 MF2000 metro trainsets signed between the RATP and the consortium in July 2001. The first block of 45 metro trainsets was optioned in January 2006 and will be delivered between 2008 and 2010. The 49 new trainsets’ delivery will be staggered between 2010 and 2012.
The construction of the MF2000 is part of a policy to renew the RATP’s rolling stock. The MF2000 will progressively replace MF67 equipment, which went into service between 1967 and 1978.
