Yolo County, Calif., residents will continue to see improvements to their bus facility as a result of a recent $886,000 grant from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).

The grant awarded to Yolo County Transportation District will go toward the third phase of transit agency's bus facility improvement project, which includes maintenance shop upgrades, an additional 5,000 to 6,000 square feet of space to accommodate drivers and other operational staff, a fueling station, employee parking and improvements to the grounds.

The total project, estimated at $5.9 million, is expected to be complete in 2011.

In Fiscal Year 2010, the FTA will provide $10.4 billion in federal funding for transit to states and local communities across the U.S. The funds awarded to Yolo County are part of the FTA's capital investment program that provides financial assistance for buses and bus facilities.
