KC Streetcar's vehicle delay causing 'critical' issue

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The city’s streetcar project is experiencing a “critical” issue now that its vehicle manufacturer, CAF USA Inc., has said it may not have the vehicles ready by September, the Kansas City Business Journal reported.
The city placed an $18 million order with CAF USA in November 2013, with the vehicles originally set to be delivered in June. Since that target date was missed, the manufacturer has been charged $1,000 a day, with that total currently reaching more than $60,000.
