DETROIT — Crain’s Detroit Business reported that M1 Rail plans to issue a request for proposal (RFP) for streetcars to operate in Detroit by no later than the end of October. The RFP plan is the latest step in a series of major contracts that will be awarded for the project, including URS Corp. for design work; HNTB Corp. to act as owner's representative on the project; and Stacy and Witbeck Inc., to be the project's construction manager and general contractor.
M1 executives previously told the paper that they are considering both off-the-shelf purchase of six streetcars or attaching themselves to another system's order to cut down on turnaround time and cost. For the full story, click here.
