North American Bus Industries Inc. showcased its new Hybrid 60-BRT to Denver's Regional Transportation District (RTD) officials last week at a bus rapid transit event. RTD organized the event, along with the US 36 Transportation Mobility Organization, to introduce BRT technology to the public and the benefits of using this type of transit vehicle. Denver RTD is planning a BRT corridor on US route 36 as part of its FasTracks program. The 12-year, $4.7 billion program will expand bus and rail service through the eight-county region serviced by the RTD. The 18-mile corridor will feature centerline BRT stations, platforms and median BRT HOV lanes.
