New Flyer makes 'Canada's Top 100 Employers' list
Companies were evaluated on seven key attributes, including work atmosphere, and training and skills development.
New Flyer Industries Inc. was selected as one of the top 100 employers in Canada, according to a newly published book. Mediacorp Canada Inc., publisher of Canada's Top 100 Employers, reviewed the recruitment histories of more than 55,000 employers across Canada and developed a list of employers that lead their industries in attracting and retaining quality employees. Companies were evaluated based on seven key attributes: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; and training and skills development. In addition, charitable efforts and community involvement were also examined. Janice Harper, New Flyer's HR director says, the company "firmly believes that employers who take a broader view of their community responsibilities are almost always better places to work." Other noteworthy workplace practices at the company include social and fundraising events, company recognition of safety achievements and continuing education and professional development.
