NEWARK, N.J. — In preparation for St. Patrick’s Day, NJ TRANSIT is once again banning alcohol consumed aboard its system, NJ Advance Media reported.
Problems, fueled by alcohol, are the reason why NJ TRANSIT officials have selectively banned alcohol from trains on specific lines for various concerts and other events.
The ban was put into effect toward the end of the 2012 concert season. It was been used selectively in 2013 and last year. In 2013, NJ Transit banned alcohol from all trains on St. Patrick's Day after the two conductors were assaulted. For the full story, click here.
The plan represents an increase of just 1.9% over the current year, and includes investments in new buses, more full-length fare gates, and other enhancements for customers.
