New York City will own Liberty Bus Lines by the end of the year in a new deal announced Wednesday by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Liberty Lines Express (LLE) President Jerry D'Amore. The is the first agreement between the city and the seven private bus lines it seeks to take over, reported the Associated Press. Under the agreement, the city will acquire all property of LLE, including the bus depot, parking facilities, equipment, vehicles and other assets for a total price of $15.2 million. LLE currently operates 86 buses on seven express routes between the Bronx and Manhattan.
