SEARCHA man fired into a crowd waiting at a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority bus stop Wednesday afternoon, killing one and injuring four others, one critically.
A gunman opened fire Wednesday at a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) bus station, police said, killing one man, wounding four others and causing people to run for cover.
A Boston police officer and two MBTA officers chased the alleged shooter a few blocks from the bus station, where a detail officer tackled the suspect. Other officers arrived and helped subdue the man, authorities said.
The shooting, which occurred at about 2:45 p.m., killed a 52-year-old man and critically injured a victim who was shot in the neck, according to the Boston Globe. Three other people suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, including one shot in the back of the knee.
The shooting suspect is to be arraigned Thursday on one count of murder and four counts of armed assault with intent to murder. Witness reports said he fired about 15 bullets into a crowd of people waiting at the open-air bus stop.
At this time, there are no known connections between the shooter and the victims, and police have yet to discover a motive.
