WOODLAND PARK, N.J. — According to a review by The Record, state officials’ confidence that its passenger rail fleet was sufficiently protected from extreme weather led them to dismiss looking into weatherproofing NJ Transit’s railcars against storms produced by more extreme climate patterns, NorthJersey.com reported.
At a symposium of state and federal transportation officials earlier this year, an NJ Transit executive said he told climate-change consultants working for the agency to skip analysis of potential impacts on railcars and engines, since no impact was likely. For the full story, click here.
