[IMAGE]RTC.jpg[/IMAGE]On Tuesday, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) celebrated the grand opening of its new Sunset Maintenance Facility, with RTC GM Jacob Snow, RTC Chairman and Clark County Commissioner Larry Brown, U.S. Rep. Dina Titus and U.S. Rep. Shelley Berkley in attendance.

The new building will provide a maintenance facility for double-deck Deuce vehicles, the RTC's new ACE rapid transit vehicles and the RTC's paratransit fleet. The building sits on 36.6 acres and will replace a bus maintenance yard that the RTC has outgrown.

Costing approximately $75 million, the Sunset Maintenance Facility has a number of sustainable building features, including high-efficiency insulation and lighting, low-flow water features, water-efficient landscaping and a high-efficiency bus wash that reclaims waste water.

The new facility also maximizes maintenance efficiency by being equipped with vehicle pits that provide advantages over vehicle lifts, including lower maintenance costs and the ability to work above and underneath a vehicle at the same time.
