SAN FRANCISCO — According to a recent report, San Francisco's Muni’s light rail trains posted an on-time performance rate of slightly less than 50% in May, SF Examiner reported.
Transit officials acknowledge problems such as aging trains, run-down tracks, outdated scheduling and few reserve vehicles to deploy when rail vehicles break down. In the short term, the agency plans to update its scheduling and hire more supervisors that are used more efficiently along the system. It will also put out a bid next year for a new batch of light rail vehicles, which could be in service by 2017. For the full story, click here.
