The San Antonio Mayor’s Fitness Council recognized VIA Metropolitan Transit with a second place award in the “Veg Out SA!” Employer-Based Challenge. This city-wide competition encouraged local employers to promote healthier foods at their worksites.
VIA participated in the Veg Out challenge by providing an on-site farmer’s market last March and April and kicking off Fiesta with an employee “Fruit Fiesta” to promote healthy eating. VIA received $600 by Texas grocery chain HEB as part of the award to continue to promote consumption of fruits and vegetables by the agency's employees.
