Details of a new transport hub for the World Trade Center (WTC) site were unveiled Wednesday, featuring a glass and steel "Grand Point of Arrival." The site, to be designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, will be publicly unveiled on Jan. 22, according to a Reuters report. Calatrava, who was commission for the project last summer, is known for his flamboyant designs of train stations and bridges in Europe. The New York Port Authority, which owns the 16-acre site destroyed in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, said the hub would cost $2 billion and open to trains and subways in 2006. The hub design's highlight is a glass and steel "Grand Point of Arrival" to the WTC in lower Manhattan.
