TOKYO — In an effort to ease overcrowding, the Tokyo Metro is launching a plan to offer free soba noodles to passengers who stagger their commutes during the morning rush hour, reported The Japan Times.
Passengers of the Tozai subway line who register for the campaign will be eligible to receive coupons for a local soba noodle shop, according to the report.
The Tozai subway line services, one of the most packed train lines in Japan, averaged 76,000 riders between 7:50 a.m. and 8:50 a.m in 2017, The Japan Times reported.
