Trans/Air announces availability of three new solutions
The company manufactures a full line of climate control systems. Units, parts, service, warranty, and new or aftermarket installations are available through factory owned operations or a network of distributors throughout North America.
Dallastown, Pa.’s Trans/Air Manufacturing Corp. announced the immediate availability of three new solutions: the TA17 C-5 Transit Style Climate Control System; TA-20 Rooftop Product Line; and stainless steel skirt mount condensers.
The TA17C-5 is designed to satisfy the requirements of 30-foot to 40-foot rear-engine transit, tour, school buses and trolleys in severe-duty applications. When paired with a 655cc transit compressor, the TA17C-5 system can yield 111K (SAE) / 171K (IMACA) Btu/hr.

The TA17 evaporator is constructed with heavy-duty materials and has 24-volt heavy-duty motors and large diameter blower wheels mounted outboard to inject air directly into the ducts. The C-5 condenser has five high performance axial fans with a corrosion resistant coil.
Controls are fully functional with digital cabin set point. The 655cc transit style compressor is equipped with an un-loader, transit clutch, and high and low pressure switches. The TA17 can be equipped with an optional R120 rooftop condenser, is compatible with all OEM supplied ducts and also can be mounted in freeblow configuration.
TA20
The TA-20 rooftop product line features rooftop units characterized by powerful cooling capacity as well as a distinctive aerodynamic design. Rated at 34K BTU/hr, the TA-20 product line is ideal for a variety of applications, including small commercial bus, Type A school bus and work vans such as Sprinter, ProMaster and Ford Transit.
Units feature an aluminum body encased by ultramodern, UV-protected ABS acrylic cover and evaporator blowers oriented to support center aisle ducting or freeblow air distribution with maximum air flow. The TA-20 can be configured as a Tie-In or Super system and is available with optional heat and electronic controls.
The skirt mounted condensers with the latest technology, corrosion resistant, all-aluminum parallel flow condenser coils and high-efficiency, low-amperage draw condenser fans, are now available with stainless steel housing.

The new stainless steel design provides maximum corrosion protection in harsh road environments. Stainless steel condensers are available in two (SMC2S) and three (SMC3L) 10-inch fan configurations. Corresponding stainless steel stacking kits are available for applications where skirt mounting space is limited.

The region’s fixed-route system finished out the year with a total of 373.5 million rides. Adding 12.3 million rides over 2024 represents an increase that is equal to the annual transit ridership of Kansas City.
The service is a flexible, reservation-based transit service designed to close the first- and last-mile gaps and connect riders to employment for just $5 per day.
The upgraded system, which went live earlier this month, supports METRO’s METRONow vision to enhance the customer experience, improve service reliability, and strengthen long-term regional mobility.
The agreement provides competitive wages and reflects strong labor-management collaboration, positive working relationships, and a shared commitment to building a world-class transit system for the community, said RTA CEO Lona Edwards Hankins.
The priorities are outlined in the 2026 Board and CEO Initiatives and Action Plan, which serves as a roadmap to guide the agency’s work throughout the year and ensure continued progress and accountability on voter-approved transportation investments and essential mobility services.
