Travelocity offers rail packages for corporate travel
The popular discount travel broker becomes the first online agency to include rail trips in its range of travel options.
Travelocity Business, the business travel wing of travelocity.com, has become the first online travel agency to provide business travelers the option of booking Amtrak rail trips online, along with other conventional services.
Travelocity, a popular site for travelers who want to customize and book their tickets online, added rail packages to its comprehensive menu of air, car and lodging options.
Essentially, corporate travelers at companies that use Travelocity Business will now have access to their company's own private site, where they can view and select the most convenient travel options for any given business trip.
"Corporate travelers are looking for greater control of their travel experience, starting with their reservations,” said Ellen Keszler, president of Travelocity Business. “Adding rail bookings to all of our other options online gives travelers one more way to enhance their travel."
Rail options are particularly valuable to companies with travelers in the Northeast and other areas where commuter rail presents a cost-effective alternative to flying.
