COLUMBIA, Mo. — City of Columbia officials and student representatives are taking trips to three local college towns to learn more about their transit systems: Iowa State University, University of Kansas – Lawrence and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, The Maneater reported.

One University of Missouri student and transit advocate went on the trip to Iowa State University and told The Maneater that “the culture of bus riding was impressive and starts in students’ freshman orientations.” The city of Columbia has proposed an $80 student fee to improve its own bus system, but student transit advocates say the fee is too much money at once.
