CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte) will hear in about four months whether the Charlotte Area Transit (CATS) light rail system will be extended to UNC Charlotte by 2017, wbtv.com reported.
The extension would cost about $1 billion and would be paid for in part by local, state, and federal money. CATS has expressed concern over the likelihood of obtaining the funding, given Washington’s current focus on budget cuts.
