Bryan D. Smith will be taking the reins from Randy Anderson, who has been filling in as interim GM since October 2021.

Lafayette, Indiana’s CityBus named Bryan D. Smith as its new GM/CEO. Smith hails from TheRide in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he was the deputy CEO, operations.

“It is my honor to be selected to serve as the CityBus CEO. CityBus provides a tremendous service for the community. CityBus enjoys a national reputation for innovation with CNG buses and renewable power,” Smith said. “I am eager to begin engaging with CityBus employees and community stakeholders on how we can serve the community with mobility solutions.”

In almost 30 years, Smith has held a variety of key leadership positions with several transit properties, including TheRide, Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District in Illinois, and the Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority in Ohio. Smith began his transit career as a bus operator in the student-run Campus Bus Service at Kent State University.

Smith will be taking the reins from Randy Anderson, who has been filling in as interim GM since October 2021. Anderson will stay with CityBus resuming his previous position as IT Systems Administrator. Smith will begin as CityBus GM/CEO Sept. 19.
