DART Names Smiley as COO — Brandon Smiley graduated with his Bachelor of Arts from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 2015 and received his MBA from American Public University in 2020.

Brandon Smiley joined The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) as its chief operating officer on October 17, 2022, according to the agency's news release.

Smiley comes to DART with experience in public transportation operations, as he spent 17 years working in operations for the Kansas City Area Transit Authority (KCATA). At KCATA, he started as a transit bus operator and worked in several roles, including transportation supervisor, transportation assistant superintendent, transportation manager, and most recently the director of transportation.

At DART, Smiley will lead more than 200 employees in the operations, maintenance, and facilities departments.

Smiley graduated with his Bachelor of Arts from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 2015 and received his MBA from American Public University in 2020.
