Latinos in Transit (LIT) announced that Alva Carrasco is stepping down as LIT Board president.

Carrasco served as the LIT Board president during a critical phase of the growth and development of LIT and as LIT’s first vice president when the organization was established in 2016.

Alva Carrasco's Journey at LIT

Under the leadership of Milo Victoria, the organization made important strides, establishing a foundation for growth and impact.

As Victoria transitioned out of the role of president in 2019, Carrasco stepped in. She spearheaded the development of a strategic plan, a membership program, a scholarship program, and a committee structure. She also led the launch of LIT’s first website and rebranded LIT’s logo.

Carrasco dedicated countless hours to LIT marketing and administration during her free time.

Alva Carrasco forged partnerships with organizations such as the American Public Transportation Association, Transit Research Board, Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO), and Women Transportation Seminar and secured a multi-year agreement with MV Transportation, Inc.

Under her leadership, LIT achieved milestones and gained recognition within the transportation sector. The organization's mission to bridge gaps and promote diversity and inclusion resonated with many, leading to increased support and engagement.

Herold Humphrey Named LIT Board President

With Carrasco's departure, LIT is set to embark on a new chapter under the leadership of its incoming president, Herold Humphrey.

Carrascois expected to stay active within the organization, offering guidance and advice to ensure a seamless transition.
