SEARCHMetro Transit buses back on the roads this week after 47-day strike.
About 2,200 members of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1005 went back to work this week after union leaders and the Metropolitan Council, which operates the Metro Transit bus system, agreed to a new two-year contract.
The contract will lower monthly health care premiums for the short term and give full-time employees a signing bonus.
As many as 75,000 riders were left without rides each day by the six-week strike, which began on March 4.
According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, ridership has remained very low this week because many riders made other arrangements during the strike and have been slow to return to public transit.
