The Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE) announced it will host the 11th annual Zero Emission Bus Conference (ZEB Con), taking place Sept. 26-28, 2023, in San Diego, Calif.
The conference will bring together bus and shuttle fleet managers, industry professionals, and climate advocates to share knowledge on electrifying public and private transportation fleets.
“It is clear that electric transportation is a primary tool for addressing climate change,” said Lauren Justice, CTE development director. “We are proud to convene ZEB Con year after year, putting practical resources into the hands of fleets to enable the successful adoption of clean transportation technologies.”
ZEB Con Content
ZEB Con’s 18 educational sessions convene speakers from Philadelphia to Seattle in fleet-to-fleet conversations.
Conference content spans everything from the latest software and support technologies that are enabling charging systems for 100+ vehicles, to best practices for evaluating a site and system for fuel cell electric vehicles.
The conference kicks off with a ZEB 101 course that provides attendees with a foundational understanding of zero-emission vehicle and infrastructure technologies.
ZEB Con 2023 also features conversations with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regarding their Research and Innovation support programs.
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) will review learnings from their Innovative Clean Transit Regulation (ICT) that was implemented in 2018 and requires all of the state’s transit agencies to be 100% zero-emission by 2040.
Transit agency speakers include AC Transit (Oakland, CA), KVB (Cologne, DE), Duluth Transit Authority (Duluth, MN), Greater Bridgeport Transit (Bridgeport, CT), KCATA (Kansas City, MO), Metrobus (Mexico City, MX), New York MTA (New York, NY), StarMetro (Tallahassee, FL), and WMATA (Washington D.C.), among others.
In addition to educational sessions, ZEB Con will also offer tours of two local electric bus sites, San Diego MTS and North County Transit District.
